Rest is calling your name. Do not look ahead to what is not yet here. It is not going anywhere. Know that when you are called, you must listen. Rest begs you to silence the evil self-talk that leads you away from yourself, to refuse past memories that hold pain. All the things that cause stress and abscond with your peace, untie them from your neck. Rest wants you to go to the water sit, stare at ripples in the pond. Watch the Wood Ducks and the Canada Geese. Go where the horizon opens you up and your breath syncs with the waves. You’ve done enough, you are enough for today and for tomorrow. Rest is asking you to heed its gifts. Rest is calling your name.
Tricia Hersey has been responsible for my growing relationship with rest. If you have some Audible credits, listening to Hersey read Rest is Resistance is a gift you can give yourself. I enjoyed reading my hard copy as well.

Thank you for this Jen. I keep it in my email to keep reading it. I frequently need these words and reminders. ❤️
I particularly liked and needed this post. I'm usually very busy. Sometimes even when I'm tired I keep pushing.
My to do list is long. But today (and maybe tomorrow) I will heed the call to rest. Thanks for the reminder.
